Class Info.
Welcome to English 10! Effective writing and speaking are skills that play an enormous part of our lives. They allow us to communicate, to make transactions, and to express ourselves. If both are done effectively, our message is understood clearly without miscommunication. Many of us feel we can write and speak well enough to get by; this class will teach you to take your skills beyond that level. It is also a fact that writing is best learned while going hand-in-hand with reading and speaking skills. For this reason, through the course of the semester, we will study both simultaneously.

2.) There are 3 required items that must be completed in order to pass the class: the final speech, the final test, and the comprehensive writing portfolio. If any are left unfinished, you are incomplete for the semester.
3.) Minimum requirements will be provided for each assignment, if these requirements are not met, the instructor has the right to refuse a grade until the requirements are met. (Example - not having your paper typed when required)
4.) You will set your individual goals throughout the semester; however, conferences can be set with the instructor at any time by request.
5.) Late work is only acceptable up to one week after the final due date for that assignment, and at most, can only earn half credit unless previously arranged by the instructor.
6. ) Finally, if you work with me, I’ll work with you. Let me know as soon as you have concerns or problems. That’s my job, & I want you to succeed. Teachers are one of your best resources, take advantage of that.
